Full Kitchen Remodel – Hackensack Split-Level

Project Overview

A complete gut renovation of a 1980s kitchen in a Hackensack split-level home. The homeowners wanted to open the kitchen to the dining area by removing a partial wall, upgrade all appliances, and achieve a modern transitional aesthetic with new cabinets, countertops, flooring, lighting, and plumbing fixtures.

Analysis

The existing kitchen had outdated oak cabinets, laminate countertops, worn vinyl flooring, and a single fluorescent light. A structural engineer confirmed the partial wall was non-load-bearing, clearing the way for an open concept layout. Plumbing and electrical were both brought fully up to code.

Process

Week 1: Demo, structural work, rough electrical and plumbing. Week 2: Cabinet installation and countertop templating. Week 3: Countertop installation, backsplash, flooring. Week 4: Appliances, fixtures, lighting, paint, punch list. Total project duration was 4 weeks.

Outcome

The kitchen transformation exceeded expectations. The open concept layout improved flow of the entire main level. All new appliances carry manufacturer warranties. The home appraised value increased by an estimated 35000 dollars according to the homeowner realtor.
